A few of our Bridesmaids and Groomsmen are Gators, and this park Florida’s Gulf Coast at Tallahassee’s closest beach offers the chance to view a few of the rowdy reptiles in their natural habitat.

If you want to wade into some geothermal waters, Wakulla Springs is located 14 miles south of Tallahassee, and you can almost see your reflection in the calm, crystal clear waters. Boat tours of the springs come highly recommended. Ask the father of the bride for his guidance about other springs nearby.

Talkin’ Bout some Former Noles

The father of the bride was the main driving force behind the creation of the Biletnikoff Award, the honor bestowed on college football’s best receiver every year. The original trophy resides at the home of the parents of the bride to be, but a replica is on display at the University Center Club at Bobby Bowden Field in Doak Campbell Stadium. It’s almost as big as Terry Bowden. Yes, this Tallahassee wedding, has a Bowden family in Birmingham connection, thanks to the groom’s late great aunt and grandmother, who graduated from Woodlawn High School at the same time as Coach Bobby Bowden.

Getting to Tallahassee

Planes

Tallahassee has its own airport, and is located two to three hours from most of the other airports in Florida Panhandle. You can find direct flights from most hub airports into any of TLH, JAX, GNV, DHN, ECP, VPS, PNS, MOB, VLD, and CSG.

Right now bookings for the wedding weekend originating from most cities in the South and on the East Coast to Tallahassee and airports nearby such as Destin, Jacksonville, Panama City, and Pensacola are some of the most affordable domestic round trip flights available.

If you need the most flight frequency and are renting a car, Jacksonville (JAX) and Orlando (MCO) are probably your best options.

Wheels Up and Jettly may have limited TLH itineraries before football season.

Trains

Your best passenger rail option is Jacksonville. Tallahassee has a train station, but passenger service at points between New Orleans and the Atlantic Ocean is suspended.

Automobiles

You can reach Tallahassee easily from points north by navigating to Interstate 10 and heading east or west to Exit 203.

U.S. 27, U.S. 90, and U.S. 319 are the best alternate routes, and the quickest roads into Tallahassee from Florida’s Emerald Coast beaches and 30A.
